How to Build a Business Around Your Life (Not the Other Way Around)

The Download That Changed My Life & Business

About a year ago, I accidentally started reverse engineering my life before my business. I didn’t realise it at the time, but that simple shift would completely change how I viewed success, entrepreneurship and wealth.

Some call it an epiphany. I call it a download.

You know those moments when an idea arrives so clearly, so completely, that it feels less like you’re thinking it and more like you’re remembering something you’ve always known?

One word appeared in my mind:

Wealthness.

At the time, I didn’t really know what to do with it.

I just knew I couldn’t ignore it.

The interesting thing is that from the outside, my life looked pretty good. I had built a successful business. We had grown it from a simple idea into a multi-million-pound company. Financially, things were good. I had a lovely home, a beautiful family and many of the things I had worked incredibly hard to create.

But underneath it all, something felt off.

When Success Doesn’t Feel Like Success

The business I had built had slowly become a job.

A very demanding job.

A job that relied heavily on me.

A job that dictated my time, my energy, my attention and, if I am being completely honest, sometimes my happiness too.

I had spent years building something successful without ever really stopping to ask whether it was actually aligned with the life I wanted to live.

One day, I sat down with a pen and paper and asked myself a simple question:

Does my business serve my life, or does my life serve my business?

The answer wasn’t entirely comfortable.

Because whilst the business was successful, I wasn’t experiencing the freedom I thought a successful entrepreneur would have.

I realised that what I was craving wasn’t more money.

It was more alignment.

The Life Audit Every Entrepreneur Should Do

I think every entrepreneur should ask themselves this question at least once a year.

Not:

“How much revenue did I make?”

Not:

“How many clients did I sign?”

But:

“Is the life I am living actually the life I want?”

For me, the answer highlighted things I had been ignoring for years.

I wanted:

  • More time with my husband
  • More adventures with my children
  • More freedom and flexibility
  • More space to think and create
  • Better health and energy
  • A deeper sense of purpose

That was the moment everything started to change.

Reverse Engineering My Life Before My Business

Instead of asking:

“How do I grow my business?”

I started asking:

“What kind of life do I actually want to live?”

And then I worked backwards.

I started reverse engineering my life first.

Only then did I start redesigning my business.

This was a complete shift in thinking.

For years, I had followed the path many entrepreneurs follow. Build the business first. Work harder. Grow faster. Figure out the lifestyle piece later.

But what if we’ve got it backwards?

What if we designed the life first and then built a business that supported it?

That question became the foundation for everything that followed.

What Is Wealthness?

The more I explored this idea, the more I realised that Wealthness wasn’t really about money at all.

Or at least, not solely about money.

To me, Wealthness is the alignment of:

  • Mind
  • Body
  • Soul
  • Finances

It’s the understanding that true wealth isn’t measured only by what’s in your bank account.

It’s measured by how you feel when you wake up in the morning.

It’s measured by the quality of your relationships.

Your health.

Your peace.

Your purpose.

Your freedom.

Your ability to be fully present for the moments that matter most.

Just like fitness looks different for every person, Wealthness looks different for every individual too.

And that’s exactly the point.

Discovering Ancient Ideas Hidden Inside a New Word

When I started researching this concept, I realised I wasn’t actually describing something entirely new.

Many cultures have been exploring versions of Wealthness for centuries.

Shalom (Hebrew)

Often translated simply as peace, Shalom actually refers to wholeness, completeness and a state where nothing is missing and nothing is broken.

Eudaimonia (Ancient Greek)

Aristotle described Eudaimonia as human flourishing — the highest expression of a life well lived.

Ubuntu (Southern African Philosophy)

Ubuntu teaches that our wellbeing is deeply connected to the wellbeing of others.

Buen Vivir (Andean Philosophy)

A philosophy centred around living well in harmony with community, nature and material resources.

Pono (Hawaiian Culture)

A state of balance, harmony and alignment between your actions, relationships and purpose.

Again and again, I found evidence that human beings have been searching for this same state for centuries.

I just happened to call it Wealthness.

Why I Created Minds & Millions

That single idea eventually became the foundation for Minds & Millions.

Not because I wanted to build another business.

But because I wanted to help people ask the same questions I had been asking myself.

What does success actually mean to you?

What kind of life are you trying to build?

What if your business was designed to support that life instead of consuming it?

Today, Minds & Millions exists to help people build businesses, wealth and lives that feel aligned.

Whether that’s through business strategy, mindset work, money manifestation, consulting or practical implementation support, the goal is always the same:

To help people create more Wealthness in their lives.

The Quiet Season That Reminded Me Why I Started

Ironically, I am writing this during one of the quietest periods of my own entrepreneurial journey.

When I first launched Minds & Millions, I thought things might happen faster.

I thought momentum would come more easily.

The reality has been very different.

The past couple of months have stretched me more than I expected.

There have been moments of doubt.

Moments where I’ve questioned myself.

Moments where progress has felt painfully slow.

And yet, whilst sitting on a consulting call with a client today, I was reminded exactly why I started this journey in the first place.

I remembered how much I love helping people see new possibilities.

I remembered how much I love helping people create clarity.

I remembered how much I enjoy helping people build lives and businesses that feel genuinely aligned.

And perhaps most importantly, I remembered that deep down, this is the work I am meant to be doing.

When Momentum Slows, Purpose Matters More

I’ve come to believe that every entrepreneur experiences seasons like this.

The quiet seasons.

The waiting seasons.

The seasons where nothing appears to be happening.

The seasons where you’re forced to decide whether you truly believe in what you’re building.

Part of me believes these moments arrive for a reason.

Not to punish us.

Not to stop us.

But to reconnect us with our purpose.

To test our commitment.

To remind us why we started.

There is a fine line between taking aligned action and trying to force something before it’s ready.

It’s not always comfortable.

In fact, it’s often incredibly uncomfortable.

But learning to recognise the difference may be one of the most important entrepreneurial skills we ever develop.

A Final Thought on Wealthness

If you’re currently building a business, I hope you’ll take a moment today to ask yourself a simple question:

What kind of life am I actually trying to create?

Not what society tells you to want.

Not what social media tells you success should look like.

Your version.

Because once you become clear on the life you want, everything else becomes easier to reverse engineer.

Success isn’t just about building a business.

It’s about building a life.

And that, to me, is Wealthness.

With love,
